Actually, I'd still like to have a special case where you can specify a
backup cache size different (larger) from the run-time cache size. I'd
be a simple thing to let the cache grow, and then when you receive the
signal that its done copying and you can write again reduce the cache
back down to its original size and set the width/depth back to normal..
