Problem starting server

coldmud compiles, no problem.  When I start the server with
coldmud ../world-0.6 
having created the textdump in that directory, there is
no result.  The MUD does not start up, nor does it give any error
message (or any message at all).  I allow it to sit for a while, and
there is no response still.  It accepts signals, I can kill it using
^C.  Anyone have any ideas?
