Genetics Mapper

Creatures2 uses a complex set of "genes" to specify the creatures' behavioural patterns and reactions to external stimuli. Each creature in the game has a corresponding genetics file in the genetics folder of the Creatures2 directory structure. The data in the genetics file is in a format which makes it possible to compare the genes of one creature, with the genes of its parents or any other creature. This is what the Genetics Mapper will do.

The genetic structure of a creature is arranged into organs, organ contained genes, and genes, which are not contained within organs. The mapping process generates a hierarchical display of genes unique to the child, genes missing from the child and genes mutated since the parents. It can also generate a gene breakdown of the child genome.
