There is also a copy of the gdbm/ndbm source with pre-compiled VC++ lib
files available via link from my page at http://www.geocities.com/inindo.geo
and a link to VC++ win32 binaries.  I've submitted some changes to help
genesis compile with VC++, I'm sure however that they are posted to the
source yet.

  The installation intructions for Borland C++ 5.x are in the docs directory
  and still work with some minor fiddling.  IIRC you need acces to a
unix-like
  configure, yacc, or bison to prepare it for compilation.  Also you need a
  Windows version of gdbm or ndbm to link it.  You can find that on my
  site as the one on the Cold site is corrupted. (see URL below).  You need
  Perl to run some of the utilities and the regression tests.

  Or you can download the Cygwin (Linux tools and emulator) distribution
  and follow the regular instructions.

  Some others have compiled it using VC++ as well.
