The easiest way to do this is to make code a daemon object in the DB that 
can listen to a port and your perl, C, whatever code could talk to the DB by 
opening connections to the daemon.  If the daemon was coded to grok SQL or 
some other standard query language you would be able to use the object 
system as if it were a database.

The only other way to use Cold's objectbase is hack the DB handling code out 
of the driver and use it for C but then you'd probably have less frustration 
and hassle just installing MySQL or somesuch.
