[385] in Coldmud discussion meeting

weird little problem

i'm having an interesting problem with my latest coldmud venture... i've 
compiled coldmud on a really nice little hp/ux 9000, and am all happily
ready to move my nifty little coldmud to it, however i have one problem:

<note, world/binary is empty at this point>

grail.cba.csuohio.edu 266: ls world/binary
total 0

ok, all happy.  now it should load up a db from world/textdump, right?

grail.cba.csuohio.edu 267: coldmud world
Sun Aug  7 23:00:09 1994: FAILED TO START: Database index is inconsistent.

whoa! back up! i have no database at this point! or, wait a minute, i guess
i do:

grail.cba.csuohio.edu 268: ls world/binary
total 0             0 index.dir      0 index.pag      0 objects
grail.cba.csuohio.edu 269:

ok, i've tried this w/ my existing db, with an empty world-0.6 and with the
test directory, all with the same results, "Database index is inconsistent." 
and a binary dir with 0 file lengths.  any ideas ppls?
